Garlands and banners have been popular for a while and are still going strong in paper crafts and home decor, and paint chips are also a favorite among DIY’ers so…I thought I would combine the two for today’s Easter Week post.
Since an oval shape resembles an egg I decided to create an Easter Egg Garland using the Oval Punches Die to cut several different color paint chips. I love the ombre coloring on the paint chips, and the rainbow effect is fresh and perfect for spring.
After die cuttingĀ the ovals I used my Crop-A-Dile to punch small holes in the tops of them, and then I threaded a length of green Sew Easy Baker’s Twine through them for hanging.
I also cut some small embellishments from white textured cardstock using the Blossom and Butterfly Nesting Dies. I adhered them to the center of every third egg shape.
Of course you could always use your favorite patterned paper or cardstock for this project, but if you like the look of paint chips and don’t have any on hand here are some ideas:
- Ask your friends or neighbors if they have any, especially those who’ve recently renovated or painted
- Ask the paint department at your local home improvement store to contact you when they rotate out old paint chips
- Try searching on Etsy, Amazon, or Ebay
- Make your own paint chips in your image editing software and print them out
Tomorrow I’ll be sharing some beautiful Easter Sunday Brunch favors, so be sure and check back!
