Make a Summer Journal

Hello We R friends, it’s Aly Dosdall here! I’m excited to share more details about a project I created for a FREE Michaels Virtual Class, which you can watch by scrolling down on their YouTube channel HERE. In the class we made a summer journal with the Book Binding Guide and then decorated the cover with a Foil Quill Freestyle Pen, the Word Punch Board and the Floral Stamp, Die & Emboss Kit.

During the class we didn’t have time to embellish the inside pages of the journal, so I wanted to share a look at the inside pages here so you can create them if you’d like.

We used the Heritage Paper Pad which includes tons of beautiful vintage style patterns with rose gold accents. The papers are single sided, so I added blocks of patterned paper to the back of some of the inside pages.

I also included 11 sheets of plain white copy paper, which is the perfect place for stamping, journaling, and photos. The Floral Stamp, Die, and Emboss Kit was perfect for creating custom embellishments for the cover and inside pages.

The Mini Precision Press makes stamping a breeze, and using stamps always helps make the most of your supplies!

Our Detail Scissors are perfect for fussy cutting the beautiful patterns in the paper pad.

The Envelope Punch Board was the perfect way to make room for additional photos and memorabilia.

Interactive elements are fun, create visual interest, and add extra room for photos and journaling. Washi tape is a great way to add those into a journal.

I also stitched two large envelopes directly into the pages of the journal (see photos below). This is another great place for additional photos or journaling.

Check out the rest of the inside pages for additional inspiration!

Thanks for stopping by. Be sure to watch the free class to learn how to create the journal pages and cover. Enjoy documenting your summer memories!
