Hello everyone! It’s Eva on the blog today, sharing a fun and easy baby layout using my Foil Quill Pen.
The Foil Quill is perfect to create backgrounds for your layouts and add small accents! You can also use the USB drives to foil hundreds of images.
For this layout, I used the Holiday drive and chose this cute cloud that I thought coordinated perfectly with the designs from the Peek-a-boo You line from Pebbles.
On my Silhouette Studio Software, I ungrouped the elements and erased the raindrops. Next, I hit the “Release Compound Path” button to erase a few faces from the clouds.
Using the Emboss/Deboss menu, I created a few patterns to fill my clouds. Simply select the image you want and then the pattern. I choose the line and modified the spacing and angle. Remember to hit the “Release Emboss” otherwise you are not going to be able to sketch it.
Next, I wrote a sentiment with the Alpha Tool and weld the letters together. I also filled these letters with a pattern, but this time, I used the concentric pattern and adjust the spacing to 0,5.
I wanted to cut my phrase so I added a cut line with the “Offset” tool. I did this with some clouds also.
Now it is time to Foil and Cut! If you are just foiling I recommend you use the magnetic mat, it is amazing! I wanted to Foil and Cut so I used my regular mat and secure the foil with the Foil Quill Tape.
When you hit the send button all your images are going to be red, that means that all the lines are going to be cut or sketched by the machine. If you have a machine with two tools you can select all the foil lines with Tool 1 and all the cut lines (the phrase and clouds borders) with Tool 2.
I have a machine with just one tool so I selected the cut lines and hit “No Sketch”. I sent everything to my machine, removed the foil (without unloading the mat) and then selected those 4 border lines and cut them.
To foil my images I used the 12×12 Foil Sheets in gold and the medium tip. The results were beautiful! Even on textured paper the foil transferred perfectly.
The foil looks gorgeous when you move the page and I love that with one design you can achieve different looks!
My title also came out great, remember to adjust the spacing of the filling pattern so you don’t have any gaps in the middle!
The Foil Quill is definitely a game changer! Simple, fast and gorgeous results every time! What do you want to foil next?
Thanks for joining me today and have a great day!
