Holiday Treat Piñatas

Hello We R friends and happy holidays to you all.

I’m sure many of you will be preparing special treats to take with you to gatherings or for simply enjoying while snuggling up on the couch!

It is has become a bit of a tradition in my circle of friends to gather together and celebrate the passing of another year while enjoying delicious food and of course, each other’s company. For our annual get together, I am going to bring along some tree-shaped cereal treats which are a snap to prepare and to show them off, I’m complimenting my plate with a custom Christmas Tree Mini Piñatas.

These little piñata kits are new additions to the oh-so-fun DIY Party Mini Piñata collection.

You will find everything you need to put them together in one convenient kit. They are a great way to whip up some charming décor and are an easy and fun activity for kids!

What Christmas tree is complete without some twinkling fairy lights? Mine has been given a bit of a customization in the form of some battery-operated lights, hidden inside the piñata shape.

To start off, I traced a rough idea of where I wanted my light string to be on the tree. I then punched some holes into the card with a paper piercer, (which I made slightly larger with the back of a pencil so as to accommodate the LED bulbs.) I opened the bottom of the tree up, extending the opening/closing flap part so I could fit my hand inside. I then popped a little light bulb into each of the holes I had just made. The excess bulbs were tucked inside the piñata and the battery pack placed near the opening for easy access.

I then went about decorating my tree with fringe tape, carefully working around the bulbs sticking out. As a final touch, I popped on some stickers, which come included in the kit. With enough supplies to create 3 Christmas Trees, you can really have fun decorating each one differently

Here you can see a peek of how the lights are stored inside the piñata. This was a string of 20 lights, which fit inside comfortably.

Switch them on, and my little tree comes alive!

I’m sure you’ll agree that these shapes are just so adorable! What’s fun about including the lights inside, is that once these goodies are all gobbled up, I can keep my little tree on my desk or as part of our holiday décor in our home.

I just love the little light show dancing off the servingware.

These DIY Party Mini Piñatas also come in this super cute snowman shape. Best of all, he won’t be melting anytime soon!

If you want to make these yummy cereal treats, here is the recipe, which I found online:

4 cups miniature marshmallows

6 cups Rice Krispies cereal (or equivalent)

Green food colouring

Prepare a baking tray by lining it with aluminum foil and spraying it with cooking spray.

Melt the butter in a large pot over medium heat.

Add the marshmallows and stir until they are completely melted. Stir in the green food coloring.

Remove the pot from the heat and stir in the Rice Krispies.

Pour the mixture into the prepared pan. Using a piece of wax paper that has been sprayed with cooking spray, press the mixture firmly into the pan.

Allow it to cool completely. Lift the foil from the pan and cut out shapes by hand or with a cookie cutter.

Decorate with frosting (I used icing sugar mixed with a bit of water) and sprinkles.

Store in an airtight container for up to three days.

Tip: Work quickly or the marshmallows will start to go stringy.

Wishing you and your families joy and peace
