Hello everyone! It’s Eva on the blog today sharing a tutorial on how to use your Spin It Tumbler Turner to make a glitter tumbler that glows in the dark. You can find supplies for this post at Michaels Stores.
I know making tumblers can seem like a difficult craft, but I can assure you that the Spin It machine makes it fun and easy. Plus, the Spin It line has lots of glitter options, paints that change color with the sun and my son’s favorite: glow in the dark glitter!
To create the tumbler, start by prepping the base. Add a strip of masking tape or blue tape to the bottom (and the top if you want) of the tumbler and clean it with some rubbing alcohol.
Next, apply some spray paint to the base, that way the grey will not show under the glitter.
Use some spray adhesive or some Modge Podge to apply the Glow in the Dark glitter to the tumbler. I did two coats and left the Modge Podge to dry for a few hours.
Place your Tumbler on your machine, making sure it is level and tight.
Mix the same amount of A and B components for 3 minutes, turn your Spin It machine on and pour the resin in one even layer.
*Change the masking tape before applying resin, I forgot to do it and it was harder to take away*
Protect your workspace with the silicone mat and use the silicone spatula for easy resin application and clean up later! You can easily peel the resin off and you can reuse them on your next projects.
Leave the tumbler spinning for about 4 hours, but peel of the masking tape after 1 hour to have a nice edge.
After the first coat, use wet sandpaper to sand your tumbler. Wash it, clean it again with alcohol, and put some masking tape on the bottom.
*If you want to apply some vinyl images, now it is the time!*
Apply another coat of resin and again, remember to peel the tape after 1 hour.
After 5 hours, remove the tumbler from the machine and let it dry for 24 hours.
Don’t worry if you mix too much resin! You can mix it with glitter and use any left overs with the fun and cool Color Pour resin molds!
Want to see how it glows in the dark? My son loved the tumbler! I think it would be fun to take to camping or to a pajama party!
Thanks for joining me today and I hope you give tumbler making a try! I am sure you are going to love it!
Have a great day!
