Embellish Your Mini Album Cover with the Mini Evolution

Hi crafty friends! Amber Mitchell here on the We R Memory Keepers blog today to share with you a fun, summer mini album I created using the Damask Love ‘Life’s a Party’ collection and embellished using the Mini Evolution.

I’m so excited to share today’s project with you as, before today’s project, I had never worked with dies or a die cutting machine before. This was a fun new experience and, if like me you’re a beginner, I definitely recommend giving this technique and tool a try!

Before using the actual dies and Mini Evolution, I first created a summer-themed mini album. I used the ‘Life’s a Party’ collection since it’s all about fun!

I first started by wrapping two pieces of chipboard that measured 3.5 x 5.5 inches. I wrapped these using papers that measured 4.5 x 6.5 inches. Next, I created the spine by scoring a 3.5 x 5.25 inch piece of paper at 1-inch on both ends of the 3.5 inch side.

I adhered the two covers to the spine using a strong double-sided tape and then lined the inside of the album covers using two papers that measured 3.25 x 5.25 inches.

To create the pages for this album, I used four sheets of 5 x 6 inch paper. I folded these in half then bound them to the spine using white elastic thread.

With the base of the album complete, I moved on to creating some embellishments using the Mini Evolution. The Mini Evolution Starter Kit comes with a package of circle dies in various sizes. I used the three largest circles from this die set to cut three circles for the front cover of my album. The second largest circle features a cute sentiment from a 3 x 4 inch element card from the collection. I used this as the title for my album.

Once the three circles were cut, I layered them one over the other on the cover to create a staggered cluster. Next, I used the ‘Layered Florals’ Revolution Dies to create a beautiful, bright and happy blue flower that I tucked amongst the circles. I cut the pieces for this flower from the ‘Life’s a Party’ Project Pad so that the colors would coordinate with the rest of the album.

I adhered my new, handmade embellishments to the cover of my album, popping a couple of them up with foam tape to add dimension.

Finally, I embellished the rest of the album with bits and pieces from the collection and a few photo mats to act as markers for future summer memories.

I can’t wait to fill up this sweet album with all types of fun photos! I also loved being able to try something new when it came to dressing this mini up using the Mini Evolution.

Thanks so much for stopping by my post! I’ll see you next time with another fun project!
