Hello crafty friends, it’s Lucile! Today I wanted to present my new favorite tool: the Mixed Media Glass Mat. She is awesome! It allows you to do things like cutting, painting, heating, playing with your inks and more! Its size is very nice because we have a large work surface.
Today, I present to you my new mini album made with the Marigold collection by Maggie Holmes. I made this mini album by mixing several techniques: collage, paint, texture paste, stamps …
I started by making a classic album with cardboard. I used a paper that I love for my album cover with flowers but I found it too heavy to add decoration. To attenuate the pattern I used white paint which I applied in a thin layer to be able to decorate my cover. The advantage of the Mixed Media Glass Mat is that we can directly put the paint on it and the white part allows us to see our colors, it’s very practical.
On some pages of my mini album I wanted to add patterns. For this, I used modeling paste and stencils. I put my modeling paste directly on my Mixed Media Glass Mat and I used a spatula, it’s very simple and you don’t need to use lots of palettes.
Then I had fun creating new embellishments using stamps from the collection. I stamped butterflies and I cut them to decorate my mini album. I love the result! What is very practical with this glass is that it’s very easy to clean with water and for stamping it’s very cool because I always put ink everywhere!
For the other pages of my mini album, I used different techniques, I sewed, created fringes, added sleeves, I let my imagination run wild!
I hope this mini album will inspire you and give you lots of ideas to create new things with your Mixed Media Glass Mat. See you soon for new creations!
