Hello everyone! It’s Eva here today bringing you a fun Cookie Box with a hidden message inside.
I have always loved to bake. In fact, before scrapbooking, I spent most of my free time cross stitching and baking. Cookies are one of my favorite things to make (and EAT) during the holidays, so I always prepare a batch or two of simple sugar cookies. I think they are delicious and you can decorate them with kids–it’s a super fun activity! (I have copied my recipe at the end of this post)
A small box of homemade cookies it is a wonderful gift for friends, neighbors or for someone you want to thank for what he or she has done for you during the year. Make your box with your 123 Punch Board and some pretty patterned paper. I am using the Holly Jolly line by our sister brand at Pebbles Inc. The boxes are very easy to make. You don’t need to glue or cut anything, the punch board does everything for you!
To make the hidden message, use your Mini Alphabet Punch Board to spell your word or phrase. My message is going to be “Fa La La”
With an embroidery needle and some twine create your vertical message.
Attach the end of your twine to the bottom of your box with some washi tape.
Place your cookies inside your box and wrap them with a strip of corrugated cardstock
Close your boxes and decorate them with twine, ribbon or a bow made with the 1,2,3 Punch Board and some gold acetate from the Clearly Posh collection.
I placed my message on top of my cookies so when you open the box it is the first thing you see. I glued two “Enjoy” stickers together to lift the message easily.
You could spell the recipient’s name or another phrase and adapt the box to other holidays like Valentine’s or Thanksgiving.
And there you have it! Cute boxes in minutes with the help of a few We R tools. The 1,2,3 Punch Board is one of my favorites! What’s your favorite Punch Board?
Have a great day!
For the cookies:
400 grams sifted flour, 220 grams butter, 200 grams sugar, 2 eggs, pinch of salt, 1 teaspoon baking powder, zest of 1 lemon, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
For the icing: mix together 1 egg white and juice of half a lemon. Add powder sugar until desired consistency.
In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until smooth. Beat in eggs, lemon zest and vanilla. Stir in the flour, baking powder, and salt. Cover, and chill dough for at least one hour (or overnight).
Preheat oven to 370 degrees F (180 degrees C). Roll out dough on floured surface 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick. Cut into shapes with any cookie cutter. Place cookies 1 inch apart on ungreased cookie sheets and bake 6 to 8 minutes. Cool completely and cover with icing.
