Hey there, We R fans, Laura here today sharing a fun project to make with or for your child to celebrate his/her birthday – a birthday mini album! The album itself spells out “birthday” and then each page has a fun way to record birthday memories with a picture or journaling, or both! With the basics in place, it would also make a great gift idea for a special child in your life.
Start by using the mini alphabet punch board to create all the letters in the word “birthday”. I choose different colored cardstock and glitter cardstock to make them in rainbow order. This is a great way to use up small leftover scraps as the paper only needs to be one and a half inch by two and a half inches.
Cut out patterned cardstock rectangles using the trim and score board. Each rectangle will be 3 ½ inches tall. The first rectangle will be only 2 inches wide. Make each additional rectangle 1 ½ inches bigger than the one before.
Note: The final rectangle will only be 12 inches wide (rather than 12 ½”) unless you have longer cardstock you can use. Use the Crop-A-Dile to punch holes at the left side of the mini album. Then attach all the pages together using binder rings.
Decorate and embellish all the pages. I used a mix of Pebbles Happy Hooray ephemera, patterned paper scraps from the rectangles I cut out, washi tape, and plain white cardstock. There is plenty of room to add journaling and/or small photos.
I rounded some of the corners of the patterned cardstock and white cardstock to match the ephemera throughout the album using the 3-way corner chomper.
I wanted there to be dimension to the album, so for some of the embellishments I attached them to the page using adhesive dots rather than regular double-sided adhesive.
I love that there are so many great coordinating paper and embellishment options. It makes it so easy to create a fabulous project.
To cover the binder rings, I used ribbon and twine that coordinated with the birthday letters and tied them on. For the twine I used two strands for each color.
This mini album is the perfect way to celebrate and commemorate your child’s birthday. They will love adding special memories from their special day.
