Make a DIY Memory Card Game with the Freestyle Pens!

What we do a lot during our time at home are family game nights.  And we all have a lot of fun. The only memory game we have is unfortunately already broken in many places, so I just made one myself. You don’t need many supplies for this one. It’s pretty easy!

For the designs I wanted to work with the Freestyle Pen again–one of my favorites. Only this time I used stamp images as a template. But first I will show you how the memory game was created.

The memory consists of 16 cards. So 8 different designs. First, I made the cards. The cards are 2 1/4 x 2 1/4 inches. I cut out 16 cardboards squares in this size. Then the cardboard is covered with patterned paper (you need 2 of the same papers). For this I have cut 16 pieces in the size 3 1/4 x 3 1/4 inch. So that the upper sides all look the same, I cut out the rainbows from the new Magical Forest collection by Crate Paper–the most famous icon at this #stayathome time. I like the colors very much.

Next I cut out cardstock in different colors for the back (size 2 1/8 x 2 1/8 inch). I cut 2 of each color (8 different colors in total).

Then I cut the foil (in rose gold) into 8 strips with the Foil Cutting Kit from We R Memory Keepers. I always stamped the same two cards at the same time.

I have chosen designs from different stamp sets from the Magical Forest Collection (Crate Paper) and Bloom Street Collection (Pink Paislee/Paige Evans).

I glued the 2 Cardstock parts with a glue dot on the magnetic mat so they do not slip while painting. Then I put the foil on it and first stamped the design on both pieces of foil with a black ink pad. This way you can see it best.

After the stamping ink is dry, I traced over both stamped images with the Freestyle Foil Quill Pen (Standard size). That worked out quite well. I was surprised how easy it is! And the result is great. I did it with all 8 designs, so all 16 cards were ready. Afterwards these are glued on the back of the finished cards. Now the Memory Game is ready!

Additionally, I sewed a small bag to store the memory cards inside. Take a look!

The Memory was already played a few times, and my family wants more cards! I think that I will extend the memory game.  I also think this is a nice idea for a gift. I hope you liked my idea for the next family game night. Take care of yourself and make the best out of this hard time. Stay healthy. Steffi
