Add Texture to Your Cards with the Revolution

Hello We R Fans! Kimberly here with a card set that features some fun die cutting and embossing with the new We R Memory Keepers Revolution. The Revolution is a manual die cutting machine. Which means this machine uses thin metal dies to cut paper. It can also emboss paper as well. These two techniques are my go-to any time I am making cards. There is nothing better than crisp cut edges and deep texture from a good emboss!

To start my card set, I began by scoring my cards into a standard 4.25”x5.5” size.

Then I trimmed my patterned paper to a size that would fit on the front of the card base, with a little edge showing. For these cards, that size was 4”x5.25.” When cutting your patterned paper, pay attention to the direction of your pattern. Choose the direction you want it to show on your card. Take it from a lesson learned a couple times by me!

To die cut one of the white cardstock circles, begin by placing your cardstock onto the platform and magnetic mat. (The magnetic mat should just live on your base platform.) Place the die over the cardstock with the cut edge facing down. The cut edge is the raised edge on your die. The dies are made of metal, so they will stay in place nicely while passing it through the machine because of the magnetic plate. Top everything with the clear mat labeled die cutting. Place the entire stack of mats onto the base of the Revolution. Begin slowly turning the handle, adding a small push on the plates to get them to begin passing through the machine. Turn the handle until the plates have passed all the way through and you can lift them out of the machine. Your cardstock is now cut! I love the clean edges of this!

To add more texture to my die cut circles, I also used an embossing folder. I placed an embossing folder on the platform with the magnetic mat. The cardstock circle goes onto the folder and then the folder is closed. A different top plate is used for embossing. Look for the thinner, clear plate labeled Embossing. Place it on top and run it through the machine the exact same way as die cutting.

Look at how deep and crisp those embossed hearts are on the white cardstock! What a wonderful detail to be able to add to cards. And also scrapbook layouts too!

I finished the cards off with die cut hearts and cute, pre-made, die cut sentiments from Pebbles.
