Travel Photo Display with the PhotoLights Photo Strand!

We don’t know about you, but one of our favorite parts of summer is traveling! Whether it’s just a weekend away at the beach, or a long trip abroad, travel memories are so worth documenting and celebrating. This week our design team is sharing travel themed projects to inspire your summer memory-keeping. Kimberly’s up first with a beautiful travel photo display.

Hello We R Fans! Kimberly here with the PhotoLights Photo Strand today. When I first saw this product, I squealed in delight! How fun to be able to add photos to a light strand! I have so many ideas for using these. And being able to interchange the images in each photo box easily, you will have a blast with these as well!

To begin with, your photos MUST be printed on the Printable Backlit Photo Paper. This paper needs to be printed on with an inkjet printer. Place the photo paper in your printer so that it prints on the less glossy side. When you pick up the paper, you will be able to see and feel the difference.

Because the PhotoLights Photo Strand has boxes for 10 photos, I knew that I wanted to print all of my photos on one sheet of the Printable Backlit Photo Paper. The dimensions for each photo are included on a handy card inside the box. The photos need to be 2 3/16” square. Using an editing program (Photoshop), I made each of my photos that size.

I placed each square image on a blank document. The document was letter-sized (8.5” x 11”), with a transparent background, and set at 300 dpi (high quality for printing). Once all the photos were on the document, I saved it as a .jpg and sent it to the printer.

The Printable Backlit Photo Paper cuts easily with scissors. You can also print standard size photos and use the handy dimension card to trace on your photos for cutting.

The photos slide in and out of the top of the box easily. First tip; put the photos in the boxes after you hang the strand. Trust me. Second tip; if your photo box tips to one side or the other after you hang them, your photos are square, so simply reorient the photo.

While photographing these lights, I came up with several fun ways to use the PhotoLights Photo Strand! One way would be to hang them on your deck, as I have done here. I used string to tie the ends to my deck rails. Sitting on my deck is one of my favorite places in the world. Adding these lights from our trip to Hawaii lets me enjoy my second favorite place on earth at the same time!

I also hung the lights from yard stakes. They would make a cute way to line the sidewalk or driveway leading up to a backyard party or wedding. I also thought putting them on a Christmas tree would be ADORABLE. But my husband said that since it was July, the tree would be staying in the attic.

With the lights being battery powered (3 AA batteries), they can be used just about anywhere. The switch also has a timer, allowing you to leave them on steadily, or have them shut off after a certain amount of time. There is also a USB port for power. I love how vibrant they are at night!

How will you show off photos in your PhotoLights Photo Strand?
